International Women's Day
When I woke up this morning and remembered what day it was, I was flooded with images, memories, thoughts, and emotions all having to do with today: International Women's Day.
I don't know if I would consider myself to be a person who really "gets into" all of the holidays. And I'll be honest, this year is the first year that International Women's Day really stirred anything within me. Not to say that I didn't like and understand the significance of today in previous years, but this year, today, I am filled with so much! So many dreams, emotions, love, and joy to be able to say "I am a woman."
So, I decided to take some time out of my day and really sit with all of these thoughts and emotions, so that I can better understand them and utilize them to not only uplift myself, but hopefully uplift and empower other women, too. Below are the questions and answers that I asked myself, and I invite you to take a moment out of your day to answer them for yourself, too!
What does this day mean to me?
A single day out of our 365-day year, one that every woman, regardless of her age, her background, if she is a mother or not, gets to be celebrated and celebrate with all the other women on our planet and in our hearts!
A day to not just celebrate my femininity, but to honor myself, those who’ve come before me, and those who are standing now with me, and to celebrate all of our successes, and show gratitude to the women in our lives whom we are grateful for.
What feelings do those words stir within myself?
Pride. Connectedness. Appreciation. Heart-Happy. Warmth. Honor. Motivation. Gratefulness. Boldness. Softness. Empowerment!
What images come to my mind?
Women of all backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, and beliefs, coming together in a beautiful gathering of love, celebration, and wholeness. Mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, friends, lovers, creators, entrepreneurs, CEOs, caretakers, supporters, nurturers, fighters, defenders, warriors, goddesses, survivors, truth-seekers, truth-speakers!
The women who came before me. The women who fought resiliently for the rights I have today. The women who sacrificed, who were criminalized, who were lost, who were stolen, who were murdered, who survived, who were victorious, who were seen, who were heard, who spoke their truth, and who raised our collective consciousness and vibration to the level it is at today!
The women who are still fighting, the women and girls who still haven’t been found, the women who have found their inner child and those who are still searching, the women who are helping to heal our world, the women who are uplifting our spirits and empowering other women, the women who are raw and vulnerable and yet continue to move forward, the women who are asking for help, the women who need help, the women who are accomplishing their goals and kicking ass, the women who are breaking down barriers and destroying that glass ceiling one crack at a time!
The women who are still yet to come. Our future.
Who are the women in my lifetime that I would like to honor and remember today?
My mother. Her mother. My father's mother.
The woman who gave me friendship and a second home when I was in college. The woman who showed me that it is possible to love unconditionally. The women who have taught me and helped me to reawaken the healer within myself. The women who nurtured me and my son during our pregnancy and birth. The woman who helped me learn how to reconnect and love my physical body once again. The women who showed me sisterhood for the first time. The women who are part of my beautiful community. The women who have entrusted me to hold space for them.
All Planets Go Direct!
Beginning on January 6th, 2019, through March, 5th, 2019, all of the planets will be in direct motion - an extremely rare occurrence!
What is "direct motion"?
When a planet is moving at its normal rotational speed, and that speed also happens to be the same as Earth's, it is in "direct motion." When this happens, Earth's perspective momentarily becomes like the sun's.
So how does this affect you?
During APDM (a phrase coined by Wave Rayne), the vibrations of the solar system will be providing some of the most potent solar assistance to help us begin new ventures. It is a time of great opportunity, fortune, success, and hope, and whatever it is that you are embarking on for 2019.
Wave Rayne goes on to write:
“Now, here in this moment, from our geo-centric view, our entire solar system, moving together, in the same direction, like a flowing cosmic river, all traveling towards this one direction. From the position of the Sun or Earth’s perspective, All Planets in Direct Motion represents an organic, holistic, synchronous, harmonious group passage through the endless universe. ”
The combination of cosmic events that have been placed into this first month (New Moon Solar Eclipse, APDM, Full Moon Lunar Eclipse) are definitely helping us set the foundation for a prosperous and hopeful 2019!

JANUARY 5TH, 2019: NEW MOON + SOLAR ECLIPSE
Our first New Moon of 2019 is in Capricorn and is also the first Solar Eclipse of the year, too. Even though it is a partial solar eclipse, the potency of its energy, combined with that of the new moon, creates a magically potent opportunity for us to really set ourselves, and our year, up for success.
Zodiac, Planets & Stars Worth Mentioning:
~ Solar Eclipse
~ Fixed Star Vega
Overall, the energy of this new moon+solar eclipse is positive thanks to the brightest star in the northern sky: Fixed Star Vega.
Every new moon provides us with an opportune time to set intentions and begin working towards manifesting our goals and ideas over the following four weeks. This cycle, however, has the energy of a solar eclipse, too, which is even more powerful and, combined with the upcoming Lunar Eclipse on January 21st, provides us with its energy for 6 months - all the way until July!
With the solar eclipse occurring between Saturn and Pluto, a dark and weighty energy is draped over us. However, with the sextile to Neptune as the strongest aspect of this solar eclipse, lightness relieves the otherwise grave energy. Plus, the strongest single influence on the solar eclipse is the brightest star in the sky: Fixed Star Vega.
Vega is a particularly good omen and it gives us a harmonious nature, filled with kindness, hopefulness, ideality, and refinement. Be weary, though, as Vega is associated with the ego, and can make us critical, grave and sober, have insincere friends, and fleeting honors. To compliment the energy of the new moon and solar eclipse, Vega also brings us success in business, which is especially helpful as the new moon is an ideal time to begin/expand business.
Although the grave and sobering effects of Vega are intensified with the solar eclipse conjunct Saturn, Saturn does provide us with the discipline and patience needed to fulfill our intentions, responsibilities, and goals! Adding structure to our lives will help make this time one of great satisfaction and accomplishment as we bring efficiency to our lives so that our goals are easier to achieve.
With the solar eclipse sextile Neptune, the harmonious nature of Vega is amplified and the coldness of Saturn lessened. Neptune brings us greater empathy and receptivity in our relationships as we are better able to read people and situations. This is a great time for group activities and other acts where you can share your compassion and empathy as doing so will not only boost your self-confidence, but will bring you a deeper connection to yourself and an overall feeling of contentment.
A deeper understanding of your spiritual goals from Saturn sextile Neptune allows us to accept our limitations, but continue to push forward with a smile and bring material gain. Without being self-sacrificing, we’re able to be patient as we bring our dreams into our reality.
~ Write down your goals, as this is the perfect time to put yourself in the captain’s chair of any new plans for your future with the combined energy of the new moon and solar eclipse
~ Simplify and add structure to your life, relationships, and home to easily achieve your goals
~ Spiritual Work will bring you a deeper connection to yourself
~ Trust your intuition, as it and your psychic abilities are being heightened
~ Having empathy and serving others will be easier to do and will boost your confidence
~ Remaining ethical and serious in your business approach will lead to great fulfillment and financial independence
New Moon Activities:
~ Write down your intentions/goals for the next four week cycle
~ Read aloud your intentions/goals, and feel their energy soak into your entire body
~ Create a mandala out of crystals, flowers, herbs, stones, etc, to physically represent your intentions/goals
~ Place your list where you will see it and read it every day to continue to create the energy needed to manifest them into your reality
~ Attend a New Moon Ceremony!!!
